Dr. Farah Sunderji graduated with Honors from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed a residency in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy at the Southern California College of Optometry and received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at the University of Alberta. She is fluent in both French and Spanish.
Dr. Sunderji completed a six month externship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida which is ranked the #1 eyecare hospital in the USA. There she trained with both Optometrists and Ophthalmologists in the areas of retina, cornea, glaucoma, neuro, pediatrics, and primary care.
During her residency, Dr. Sunderji has provided eye examinations to patients of all ages including the blind, visually impaired, and blind/deaf children, birth to 6 years of age, at the Blind Children's Learning Center. She has helped patients with strabismus, double vision, amblyopia, head trauma rehabilitation, and special populations. She has had additional training in pediatric contact lenses and pediatric low vision. She observed with Lance Siegel, M.D., a pediatric opthalmologist in Upland, California. An Unusual Case of Myopic Shift Post Acquired Brain Injury. Other publications include a poster presented at the American Academy of Optometry in Denver, Colorado.
She has received numerous awards during her Optometric Education including: Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society (BSK), College of Optometrists in Vision Development, David J. Kerko Low Vision Award, Louise McKimmey Scholarship, and the Millennium Scholarship. Her extracurricular activities included: being the founder of NECO-COVD-Student Interest Group Founder, Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity (VOSH), Unite for Sight, and Eye screenings for the Special Olympics Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
