Dr. Diana Monea
Dr. Monea is committed to providing diagnostic procedures, using digital imaging equipment in the pre-test eye exam.
The internet has provided a terrific medium for providing patient information as it relates to eye health. Dr. Diana Monea became the first optometrist in Canada to create a website dedicated to the provision of eye health information when she created www.drmonea.com in the summer of 1999.
This website has subsequently evolved into www.eyehealthcentres.com.

She became one of the first optometrists in North America to profile case studies in optometry, beginning in April of 2000. All digital pictures, corneal topography, and field analysis illustrations were drawn from her database of more than 200,000 eye examinations that she has personally performed.
Advanced technology in the field of optometry can never replace the need for the human touch. Not only does Dr. Monea aim to provide quality care for her patients, but she has served as a leader, caregiver, and volunteer to countless others in many communities. She has given lectures to university students, seminars to healthcare workers, and mentored many optometry students.
In 2017, Dr. Monea joined Care 1 Telemedicine, the only tele-medicine network in Canada. A web of eye care doctors, optometrists, and ophthalmologists collaboratively connected by the cloud to provide quick access to eye health care for the patient.
Dr. Monea operates full-service optometric practices in Calgary and Regina, and offers designer eyewear and contact lenses. She features optical boutiques with a large selection of frames, spectacle lenses and contact lenses from well-known manufacturers.
Quality and service are Dr. Monea’s priorities. She provides her personal email so many patients can reach her after hours from any location worldwide. She responds personally to patient concerns trying very hard to make a difference.
Dr. Monea is always available for home visits to shut-ins: as in nursing homes. Many times she is asked to speak professionally and personally on many topics and always obliging to do so.
Dr. Monea loves what she does and it is her passion to make a difference in the life of every person she meets, even in a small way, especially children. If she can help, she will and is totally committed to the welfare of her patients.
In October of 2017, she completed her FAAO designation. She finished writing her book, “This Party Called Life” in 2020. Her future endeavors include completing her master’s in human resource and learning another language.
If you have any questions about Dr. Monea’s experience in the field of optometry, or if you would like to schedule an eye exam, please contact our Calgary (Shawnee or Kensington) or Regina locations today!

Motivated by My Patients
Dr. Jerome Loewen
Dr. Jerome Loewen was born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario, and graduated from Eden Christian High School in 1991. Dr. Loewen subsequently entered the biology program at Brock University from which he graduated with distinction in 1995. Accepted to both law and dentistry programs at the University of Western Ontario, Dr. Loewen instead chose to study optometry at the University of Waterloo. The opportunity to complete an externship in Houston in 1998 provided invaluable experience and perspective on the crucial impact of quality eye care. Dr. Loewen graduated as a doctor of optometry from the University of Waterloo in 1999 at which time he received an award for clinical proficiency. He then entered private practice in Ontario and continued the same for the next six years.
Having been with the Lakewood Eye Health Centre since 2005, Dr. Loewen enjoys practicing optometry in Regina, where he met his wife and where his children were born. Dr. Loewen enjoys his work and particularly enjoys interacting with his patients.
Dr. Loewen has competed provincially in volleyball and track, as well as nationally in fastball. He remains active with running and golf. Faith and family are priorities in his life, as well as providing eye care for all his patients.
I Love Optometry
Dr. Chelsea Poncsak
Dr. Chelsea Poncsak is happy to continue to provide full-scope optometric care to new and existing patients of the Lakewood Eye Health Centres. Since starting practice with the Eye Health Centres in 2013, Dr. Poncsak has enjoyed getting to know patients of all age groups and looks forward to building relationships with them in years to come.
Born and raised in Regina, after finishing high school at Miller High School and a biology degree at the University of Regina, Dr. Poncsak completed her Doctorate in Optometry at the University of Waterloo. She returned to Regina upon graduating and has loved being a part of the Lakewood Eye Health Centre from day one.
When she's not hard at work, Dr. Poncsak, along with her husband Jon, can be found chasing after their two children: Leia and Jack. As a family, they enjoy spending time at the family cabin, being outdoors, and taking in some of Regina's staple attractions – the Farmer's Market and Wascana Lake.
Since having her own children, Dr. Poncsak has become even more of an advocate for the importance of children's eye examinations and early detection/prevention of eye disease and vision issues. She has spoken at different parent groups and preschools to ensure education is available to parents on these issues and is happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child's vision or yours. Dr. Poncsak appreciates all types of optometric practice and loves seeing patients of all age groups, but has a soft spot for paediatrics and children, and would love to see your little one starting at the age of 6 months!
Making a Difference with Eye Care
Dr. Brendan Warner
Dr. Brendan Warner grew up in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where he completed both elementary and high school within the city. During his younger years, Brendan was an avid competitor in the sport of fencing. It was in this sport that he was able to become the Under 13 Provincial Foil Champion, and later in 2007, he became the first alternate to go to the Canada Winter Games for Team Saskatchewan. Other areas of interest for Brendan include playing the piano and completing up to the bronze medallion level in swimming courses. After graduating from Carlton Comprehensive High School in 2010, Brendan decided to attend the University of Regina after being accepted to both the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan.
After three years of working towards a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the U of R, Brendan gained early acceptance to the University of Waterloo Doctor of Optometry program. It was during this time that Brendan was able to realize how confident he was that he had chosen the correct profession for himself. He specifically appreciated working with specialty contact lenses, including scleral lenses for patients with keratoconus, extreme dry eye, and other corneal irregularities. This is a passion he hopes to bring into his daily primary care practice for those patients that could benefit. Brendan completed ocular disease and therapeutics internships in Waterloo, Ontario, as well as Dallas, Texas. To complete his education, Brendan finished primary eye care rotations through clinics in Moose Jaw and Nipawin in Saskatchewan. Upon graduating, Brendan also received the Dean’s Honour List distinction with his Doctor of Optometry degree.
When not working, Brendan particularly enjoys fishing, boating, and camping in the summer as well as snowmobiling and skating in the winter. Now as he becomes established in Regina, Brendan hopes to take up playing the piano and fencing again one day. Brendan welcomes both new and existing patients to Lakewood Eye Health Centre and looks forward to getting to know as many of our patients as possible.
